Discover the critical impact of malware on Operational Technology (OT) systems through a live demonstration using a custom-built OT Cyber Security Demonstrator that mimics a nuclear power plant. Witness how a simple USB-delivered malware can compromise a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), leading to hazardous situations and loss of control within the plant. This presentation will delve into the methods that threat actors are using to target OT systems, the severe consequences of poor cyber hygiene, and the essential security measures needed to protect these systems. Join us to gain valuable insights and practical strategies to enhance the security and resilience of your OT infrastructure. Don't miss this opportunity to stay ahead of the curve in OT cybersecurity!
In this presentation, we will explore the potential impact of malware on Operational Technology (OT) systems through a live demonstration targeting a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Our custom-built OT Cyber Security Demonstrator mimics the operations of a nuclear power plant, providing a realistic scenario to understand the potential dangers control systems face from increased connectivity and integration with traditional IT equipment and software.
We will demonstrate how malware, delivered via a USB, can compromise a PLC, leading to a hazardous situation within the control room and plant. This results in a loss of control and integrity of the control system and its data, highlighting the severe consequences of poor cyber hygiene controls within OT systems.
The talk will delve into the various threat actors targeting OT systems, emphasizing the increasing sophistication and frequency of these attacks as well as the lowering barrier to entry for threat actors. We will discuss the specific dangers posed to OT by malware and the critical need for robust security measures. We will discuss several controls that OT operators can implement to mitigate these risks and best practices that should be adopted to keep these systems safe and secure.
Join us to gain valuable insights into the threats facing OT systems and learn practical strategies to enhance the security and resilience of your operational technology infrastructure.
